Richard founded Hewlett Rand in 2006. He is Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development qualified and specialises in elevating leadership and sales team performance and capabilities for growth. His clients have included HSBC, Allianz, Automobile Association, Orange, Eurofins, Virgin, Weston College, City of Bristol College and nearly one hundred SMEs in both the private and not-for-profit sectors.

Richard partners with VCs and Accelerators to provide Hewlett Rand’s Top Team Accelerator programme, listed by the Scale-Up Institute. This programme is tailored to strengthen top team strategic execution, leadership and business development capabilities for scale-up success. In October 2022, Richard founded Tech West England Advocates (TWEA), a not-for-profit supporting West of England Tech scale-ups to grow globally as one of the thirty-six Global Tech Advocates communities.

Each year, Richard leads an annual UK Tech Mission to Hong Kong for UK Tech Founders exporting to Asia Pacific region. He is a judge for the UK Scale-Up Awards and UK GO:Tech Awards. In January 2024, Richard was appointed Scale-Up Ambassador for the Institute of Directors (IoD), to lead initiatives to improve Directorship for scale-ups.
